A new report from ForecastWatch, a third-party weather forecast validator, confirms The Weather Channel is the world’s most accurate forecaster. Commissioned by IBM, the independent study is a comprehensive assessment of 140 million forecasts over four years, eight global regions, 17 different weather providers, and 84 accuracy metrics covering precipitation, temperature, cloud cover and wind variables. Results derived from this report show that not only are we the overall most accurate weather forecaster globally, but the gap between us and other weather providers is growing. Our accuracy lead has increased each year over the last four years, and we are now 3.5 times more likely to be the most accurate than any other weather provider studied. In fact, we are the most accurate weather forecaster most often in each region studied, including the U.S., Africa, Asia-Pacific, Canada, Central America, Europe, Middle East and South America.
